Can you tell me why is it that if a couple ( male/female ) are fighting in the street the female nearly always turns on the concerned member of public that tries to stop the fight and is trying to help her. Do they enjoy it or what ? the same applies when the male is arrested for beating the female they nearly always turn on the police. VERY STRANGE ANY IDEAS ? apart from booze that nearly always involved

Maybe she is worried what will happen to her from her thug boyfriend if she doesnt stick up for him?

When the police etc have gone, who knows what will happen?

OHHH We have a couple living somewhere in our area that has a screaming match from the Friday till the Sunday Morning. I used to feel sorry for the female but not anymore. She screams and swears at the top of her voice, so does the partner [ i think] and the poor kids can be heard a mile off. I have asked the Police what can be done , but they say nothing unless i can tell them exactly which house number it is, that i don;t know. Driving me up the wall.

Yeah I've noticed that as well Paul! It is very strange. They must enjoy the attention and booze IS almost always involved. I just think it's pathetic to be honest. Fine have a dissagreement sometimes...it can be healthy. But why inflict it on the public?? Plebs!

A very common scenario, and this is why you should never NEVER interfere even when the wife is getting an absolute hiding. I remember seeing this happen in Perth once, and both the man AND the woman turned on the guy who tried to interfere, and kicked the living s hit out of him.

Similarly, I phoned the police about 3 years ago because a guy was beating his wife up, in the street outside my flat. The police came and stopped them, but she refused to press charges.

I think the exhibitionism seems to excite both of them. Personally I wouldn't ever get involved unless the woman was screaming for help.

I wish to heck I could answer this question. I've seen this phenomenon myself and I can't understand why someone who's being abused turns on the rescuer when they are being helped. Perhaps it's because of fear or low self-esteem.

Maybe someone with some experience in the field of psychology can chip in with some insight.

I can answer that for you. Look at children when they are having a in-store tandrum. The inner child has the ability to search out your inner child and push every button. You say to yourself "I'm not going there with you", but you end up deeply in it. That's the way it is when two people who are grown enough to go to a more secluded place and work it out, something within them demands that this one point of view must be said before it's forgotten. And anyone who has ever been in a heated argument knows full well that it's hard to get a word in edgewise over someone who could give a flying flip about what it is you have to say. So it's on because at that point nobody cares what the other has to say but there is still one very important thing...neither are willing to walk away from each other or the argument mainly because there is a 'high' being experienced and here comes an outsider who wants to interrupt that 'high'. That's why people get their feelings hurt because we all know the risk of trying to stage an 'intervention' WHILE the addict is savoring the rush. If either were not desiring to be in on the argument believe me they surely would walk away or shut up. It's very hard to argue with oneself.

Lack of tact. Lack of intelligence. People generally resort to obnoxious behavior to assert their "control", when actually it is lack of control. Usually when a voice has elevated to yelling or physical violence...it is because of lack of respect to the other individual, lack of communication skills and also low intelligence because they are unable to use verbal indicators to validate their side as being valid.

MM i think its frustration. when your in an argument and someone else jumps in you think "FCUK OFF" but then you kinda realise what it is you have done, I have been in a row with my other half but then as soon as my friend came up to me i shouted at her, it is bad but it must be frustration i think....
