the odd bit of chocolate wont harm your baby. My daughter is also 5 months and she loves milky buttons. People are to protective of everything these days, just think what babies had 50 plus years ago! Your daughter will let you know if she does not like chocolate.

White chocolate contains COCOA BUTTER, cocoa butter is what people are ACTUALLY allergic to in chocolate. So white chocoloate is EXACTLY the same as regular chocolate.
But it is your decision. Many doctors say to delay berries and I gave up on that after my mom pointed out that EVERY SINGLE food I was allergic to as a child she didn't give me until I was 2 years old.
However you should absolutely delay ALL solids until 6 months at the earliest, and preferably 7-9. On that I do not think it is a matter of choice, it is a fact that babies will not feed themselves before that age, and they know best.

I dont see any problem with it, i thinks its a parents choice. You will get health fanatics who's children will never see a sweet, then you have the fast food junkies who give the smallest of babies sweet things to keep them quiet. As long as it is in small amounts ( a little bit for you and the rest for me attitude) then why deprive the child. There are too many do's and dont's these days, how did past generations survive?

I would give it to her in small doses. I gave my son small amounts at about that age but to be honest, he preferred milk chocolate!
He doesn't really like any chocolate now (he is 21 months) - he would prefer a banana or an orange.
Ignore all the ones who are saying don't give her any cos she will get a sweet tooth! What a load of shite! It's not like she will be having the whole packet and end up being addicted to it!

white chocolate is not actually chocolate at all as it has no real cocoa in it (the bit that makes it brown, the beans)
if she can chew then give her a few small pieces which she wont choak on, my daughter had chocolate quite young. if in doubt you could always melt it down and give her a little bit with some mashed fruit or something as a little xmas treat!

Definately not! Too many people feed their children useless 'foods' and if you want her to get a good start in life, stick to your natural fresh foods until she is at least two! Introducing 'sweets' at such a tender age is wrong for many reasons. One being the sugar content ... which will affect her by hyping her up! Not to mention the additives etc that are put into chocolates to preserve them!

I waited as long as I could to give my child sweets and chocolates, unfortunately the family didn't share my concerns. Your child is far too young for that! You have a duty as the parent to ensure the health and well being of your child. Helping her develop a sweet tooth can only cause problems. Have the chocolate for yourself and enjoy having a healthy little girl.

White chocolate is very rich and could upset her stomach. To me I'd wait until she's at least a few months older.
Why not ring the pediatrician and ask the nurse?
Happy Holidays! Enjoy her first Christmas!

Hi holly we tried ours at about 3 months but only a very small quantity until we were sure that it would not turn them into the creature from the poo lagoon. try it but very small bits at first but also try fruit and stuff as they seem to like that more to start with, but not too much as they can effect the deitary transit i.e. bung them up or make them poo for the country of your origin
