I have a lot of male friends. My best friend is a guy. I couldn't imagine not having him at my kid's first party (lol). And then there's just the people who will be my support system throughout my pregnancy and child's life, that I probably won't be able to make it without. I just couldn't imagine excluding them, especially when half the females that will be there, will be there just because I've known them my whole life...

Yes...In fact it has become quite a trend to have co-ed baby showers. It is especially fun to watch the men try and put diapers on baby dolls!
Besides, it is your baby and your baby shower...it should be exactly the way YOU want it!
Good luck and Congratulations!

Perhaps people are not comfortable with men being at a baby shower so you could call it a celebration of birth party, or celebration of pending birth. It's your party so you should have the flexibilty of creating whatever guest list you want. I'm guessing the baby's daddy won't be offended. You can always have a girl's only baby shower and a boy & girl after party. But whatever you choose don't let social stigmas stop you from doing what you want.

I think it's a great idea - especially if these males are just as important to you as the females. I believe men should be involved in the process early on - how else are they supposed to know what babies need? Think of it, women start learning at a very young age about babies, their needs, what to expect, and how to adjust from situations just like this - so why can't men learn the same things?

Yes its your baby shower, you can have your male friends there if you want. At my baby shower coming up my dad, brothers, and boyfriend will be there because we will be doing my baby shower on the same day we celebrate Christmas because I live 11 hours away from the rest of my family.

I have went to baby showers where it is just women, and some where it is both men and women. The guys had beer, joked, and even played some of the baby games!! My husband and i went to a friends babyshower and it was fun for both of us. Just make sure to try to involve everyone and you guys will have a great time! Congrats on the upcoming baby

We just had my daughter's shower on December 2nd.

We rented a hall ...a caterer...and had what they call a Jack and Jill babyshower.

Her and her husband were surrounded by about 100 family and friends...we called it...Mariah's Welcoming ...

...and she arrived 2 days later... very acceptable..and fun now a days.

Enjoy...get as many people together as possible and celebrate !!!

You're having a baby... it's time for a huge celebration !!!

I think it is okay, when I was pregnant with my first my mom and mother-in-law rented a hall like the elks and I had tons of men at mine, they were in the hall to eat and chat and when I was opening gifts they took themselves to the next room when the big screen tv and the bar was.

I've attended a shower for a coworker of my husband's and it was men and women. It was a wonderful shower, so much fun and so lively, and the men all had as much fun as the ladies did. I say invite them because, as you said, they're your closest friends.

I don't think there's anything wrong with it at all. I had my male friends at my baby shower and we all had a great time.
