Yasso, that was a very thoughtful answer and I appreciate that. I see your point. I would just answer back...:As soon as you become a Chirstian, I will become a Muslim." That quieted the situation back down. I respect their conviction and I hope they respect mine.

As a Muslim my answer would have to be that they actually dont expect you to become like them.
Probably due to their belief that salvation is via islam so thats probably why they would hope that all people would follow that path.
I think that is no different from all other religions.
Now with the same logic, one might ask why do christians send Missionary priests to all over the world trying to convert people to christianity!

They also belive that they are helping people see the rightious path.
Now Jews on the other hand dont do that as they believe that you cannot convert into their religion as they have been chosen by god and not any one (unless you are madona and that helps their image)

And you know some thing, even muslims share with them the same as the Quran talks about jews as the chosen people by god.

Its funny how we are all so simmilar but yet can only see the minor differences!!!!

I think a lot of Americans have similar thoughts. I don't know however, if such thoughts are true. I mean, I've recently wondered what muslims would think if Americans asked muslim women living or visiting America not to wear their head coverings. When American women go to Saudi Arabia for instance, I think it is almost required for women to be covered? So, what would muslim women think if America required they not be covered? There's a question for your question.
