I have moved alot in my life. From state to state. Country to Country. Yet, there are some people that never leave their hometown. There's nothing at all wrong with that, but how can a person be satisified...never knowing whats out there and experiencing life from other cultures, societies and different geographical environments? I admire people with such close connections that they are happy to stay put...I just don't understand it. Ever just "wish" you could take off and see the world?

Different horses for different courses. The world would be a boring place if we were all the same. If they're happy leading their life like that, then fair enough.

I was a bit of my own country home bird till last year, I wouldn't get on a plane to save my life, but things change and I finally did it, I've been a bit like Alan Wicker since I got my passport, Ireland, the Caribbean, Greece, absolutely loved it and meeting people from different backgrounds and cultures is something I love, at Easter I'm off to Australia, a dream of mine for many years and I just can't wait, given the money I would travel the world for the rest of my life.

Perhaps you only get itchy feet if you are the type that has seen something else. Those that stay in their own area and never go anywhere don't feel like they are missing out as they don't know what they are missing out on. You cannot miss what you never had.

But I, like you, want to see as much of the world as I can as some places fill you with awe and inspire you and others make you glad you have what you have.

For the same reason that other people aren't content UNLESS they leave their own backyard! Some people are more adventurous by nature, while others can only be happy at home and close to what they are familiar with.

Seems to me the expectation is much better than the reality. For example last summer all excited to see the Smoky Mts. Its full of rats, filthy and nothing but gift shops. The indians are still poor and it is very depressing to see the comercialization.

Big rats in Gatlinburg behind the Mcdonals on the strip. Rude people!!!!
Filthy hotels, with hookers in them.

So my house looks pretty good, and my town is much better than the tourist trap.
Dollywood was ok though.

Some peiple are content and happy surrounded by family and friends, maybe they have travelled but don't feel the need to leave W"home". While others love to travel and are happy wherever they are, there are also those who search the world and cannot find contentment, we are all different. Hope you are happy and content in whatever you do.

I have moved quite a few times round England and Wales.
But I always end up moving back to my home town where I grew up.
Its nice to travel for a year or two but you know where your friends and family are.

I think it's the feeling of security in familiar surroundings. Each to there own is all I can say.

I've moved around a lot too so I find that strange as well. Each to their own though.

I think it's a "comfort zone" thing, these people are too comfortable in their own space they can't imagine leaving.I seriously feel sorry for people like that!
