I live alone apart from 2 cats. I work in an office, but feel i ought to be getting out more. I dont have a girlfriend at the moment. I belong to a local competitions group, that meet once a month. I like going out to the cinema and to concerts, but i dont seem to actually meet people. I win a lot of concert tickets, Tom Jones, Beautiful South, Good Food Show at the NEC, but i usually end up going on my own, though i do sometimes bump into friends from either a competition site i use, or friends from the competition club. Ive just won another car in a competition. But i find christmas a very "family" season. I havent got any kids. My brother lives in USA, my sister goes away with her bf for christmas. My mother is no longer with us and havent really been close to my dad in years. So i can see me feeling a bit lost and lonely over the christmas / new year period. Just wondered if anyone could suggest something. Im not a heavy drinker, though i do like the odd cider or three

Christmas is a family and friends season - go get close to your Dad you might not have him one day. Get in your new car take the cats and lots of Christmas cheer (in bottles of course)and go see your DAD.... Merry Christmas

I do have family and will spend the holidays with my son's family this year. But when my family has had other plans, that's okay as I usually have invites to the homes of several different friends. But what I really enjoy is spending time alone on the holidays; maybe go to a movie Christmas Eve and then to church afterwards; sleeping late Christmas morning, and spending the day in front of a fire with a new book. It's GREAT! I plan special treats for the occasion; maybe cheese and wine Christmas Eve, an omelet Christmas morning and a special dinner such as lobster or crab cakes. Make the day what you want it to be rather than depending on others.

Its worse when you do have family and they live round the corner and you still find yourself alone!! I just make sure i have friends round or go away with friends for chrimbo they are the only reliable christmas for me! maybe make the effort and organise christmas dinner and send out a few invites? If not don't worry about it loads of people just enjoy the peace and quiet of a christmas day in front of the box on their own. Have a great christmas whatever you do!

I am a Christian that has several friends that are also without family members. We generally spend time during holidays together. Our FATHER's CHURCH is a place that good people with a common goal meet one another in service to the LORD. I would spend more time reading and studying the BIBLE. Find a local non-denominational Church and begin studying with them A group of them will likely be meeting around the holidays.

Why don't you try starting some sort of club? There are millions of people like you. I don't know how you would start it off, maybe advertising in a local paper for people to join and help organise it. Your local library might have ideas too.

Christmas and New Year is a very sad time for many, your club could be something they have been looking for.

I dont have kids either but my bf does. His kids come over for a bit, we exchange presents then they go to their grandparents. We are alone the rest of the day so we go to the Chinese Restaurant down the road and get blitzed. Wanna join us? its fun, God Bless sweetie

how bout ur friends?join them, party w/them. Enjoy ur self in ur own way that u usually do. Or try something different and fun. I'ts really lonely being alone on x-mas. I'ts better when u have someone to share and to be with in that special holiday.
