I think i already met my soul mate. The circumstances were almost perfect. i liked her, she liked me (or at least seemed to like me), we went to the same high school, she was my last dance at prom night, and we unknowingly and surprisingly entered the same college. But there is just something, an invisible force that seems to tear us apart. There always seems to be a problem. But for now, I still believe that we are meant for each other, that we are soul mates. However, if something else happens, my belief might change. Because you just never know what who you will meet the next day on the train or on the mall food court. I guess we'll just have to see how the story ends.

Good Q, and I suspect you do, or would like to. No offense.

I have to suggest however that the term is sooooooooo over used.

Certainly "mate" doesn't strictly have to define contractual obligations, or suggestions.

To be connected to another spiritually(no reference to religion) is without question, as close a bond as two can have in a non physical sense.
To "Sense" another might offer that some questions need not be openly answered, but are somehow understood.
To feel a bond of such depth, need not be in the strictest definition of love, or attractions leading to love and contractual bonding, but "Love" even in an easy to digest definition, can be "Friend" too.
I suggest dismiss the term, or believe if you must, that the "soul" in general, exists, and as LOVE can be, is defined in a very personal way.

Have you ever noticed that some couples look as if they are twins facially - well, that is because they are soul mates and over the centuries they have come to know each other so well they are almost as one, in looks, thoughts, word and deed. In life they live happily ever after, having long, very happy marriages. So, yes, I believe in soul mates.

The very words make me cringe. Especially when uttered by untried brides and grooms on their wedding day, when they almost broke up over crab cakes, or no crab cakes and who hates chicken.
I'm married for 28 years, happily, and I don't know if our souls have mated or not, nor do I care, but I know we have come through lifes comedies and tragedies with grace and compassion. I would not have wanted another man by my side for all this time and I hope he feels the same way about me.
Marriage is not about phenomenal soul mating, its about ego abating, when necessary, or laughing or crying or silent support, its a very real, sometimes difficult time of giving when the other can't give. Its real, not phantasmagorical.

Anyone who has met another person who they want to spend their whole lives with will say yes...and this includes me.

Before I met her though, I always hoped that soul mates existed for everyone. I was beginning to give up hope, but got lucky.

I think that soul mates can even accept that perhaps they cannot be together...but that somehow, somewhere they will be because they are made for each other.

It isn't a wish, it is a belief.

Soul mate is nothing but romantic imagination or illusion. Two individuals are like thousand different personalities because each is subject to numerous changes in course of events, contexts and time. Compatibility is nothing but compromise ..... even though sublime when both are willing to bend for the sake of each other!!

I believe that god has someone for everyone but to call it a phenomenon I think is totally out of the question... love is something that is unexpected yes but it doesn't fall from the sky its something that takes time and patience

yeah i do but i dont think it is as common as people might think - a soul mate is someone who you have known before you were born (in spirit) and you will know long after you die.
Many folk think every boyfriend/girlfriend is their soul mate - i dont think this is true! i believe you can have more than one but what are the chances you will meet whilst alive??? do you follow your earthly friends/relatives around everywhere they go? of course not - same thing - your soul mate has lessons to learn - not to follow you! if it happens that your paths cross - thats just a bonus - thats my way of thinking anyway
hope this helps!

No I think there are many people that you can be very happy with. There a billion people on this planet, I just can't believe that there is just one "soul mate." Just doesn't make sense.

Yes I do.I also believe who ever it is is not here on earth. My kindred spirit is here maybe, two.My husband and one of my grandsons, but I don't believe we find our "soul mates" till we get to the other side.Kindred spirits are someone we know and have known through past lives ,that's why we feel such a connection to them and assume they are our soul mate, when in fact they are a kindred spirit. This is my belief.
