My husband is coming home on leave on saturday. We wanted to try for a baby this time. If I started ovulating today is there any chance that we can still get pregnant if he makes it home by saturday? I have been using an ovulation predictor kit to find out when I'm ovulating and it said I started today. Is there anything I can do to prolong the ovulation?

Sorry to be the one to tell you. But no. If you got a positive on the kit you will ovulate today or tomorrow. Lets say you officially ovulate tomorrow, the egg only last for 24 hours. By Friday you will no longer be fertile.

Yes, sperm does live for 3 to even 7 days days but that only helps if you ovulated late.

I would try anyways though! Hopefully the kit is off and your surge wont happen for another few days. You want to try and have sperm present before and right when you ovulate.

Good luck though!!

I attached an article about trying to conceive after you have ovulated. hope this helps!

Best of luck!!

OPKs tell you when an LH surge has taken place. The ovulation occurs approximately 12 to 36 hours about it. Now the egg has a life too of 24 hours.
You can calculate that it is not going to work on saturday. You can still give it a try, you see miracles do occur.
Good luck

I don't think so, you are supposed to BD before and during Ovulation. You can't prolong Ovulation. The egg is only viable for 24 hours.Thats it.
There is always next month.Good luck.

There is always a posibility, but I don't think you will be able to keep that egg in there until Saturday. But of course try anyway!!!!! Good Luck!

I think you will still be okay for Saturday, as it takes the egg some days to descend into the uterus. Then, it takes a few days before the uterus decides that the egg isn't fertilised, before it breaks down into a period. But check you doc to be sure!
