OMG, so lately I've been noticing that I have wrinkles around my eyes! Do you think that I should get laser resurfacing or use retin-a?

It is possible that you are getting the dreaded eye thing at 17. Check out all your family members.....male and female.....to see what is going on around their eyes. Some families get that at a very early age.....it's life. But, there are ways to address this.

Stay out of the sun. Wear a hat and sunglasses. A top of the line skin care program, nothing from a dept store, go to a dermo or better yet a plastic surgeon to get on a good program.

First bit of bad news. Retin-a cannot be used around your eyes.

Second bit of bad news. Some wrinkles and lines on your face are normal. Even babies have lines.

If you are comparing your skin to photos in magazines. Stop that right now. Find a website, that shows the untouched up pictures......you will be in for a surprise. NO ONE has skin like the finished product of a professional photographer.

I am a firm believer in whatever procedure a good plastic surgeon has to offer. No matter what age you are (I think you have to be 18). No one should have to walk around having not exactly a good opinion, when there is a way to 'fix it'.

I have had a couple of procedures done. Full facial laser, is one. To be honest, I am happy with the results, I wish I did it sooner. But, I still have a few lines around my eyes......nothing like before....the doctor pointed out WE all have lines!

I would suggest going to a good facial guy for a consult, only a doctor can advise you on if a procedure is right for you. There are girls your age that have had laser done for acne scars, discolorations, birth marks....it's is not unusual for a girl your age to under go laser. By the way,.the laser can get right up to the base of your eyelashes.

Honeslty, you are young enough to be my daughter, if you were that concerned I would drag you off to the doctor myself. Make the appointment and go for it. Oh, by the way there is a waiting list of my friend's daughters to move into my house.....LOL.....take a number. There is no reason what so ever for all of us, not to look our best. Shallow I know.

PS......the aftercare of laser is down right painful. I almost passed out from it. Laser induces DEEP burns on your face. You have to endure burn treatments on your face. This is critical, no matter how painful it is. If an infection sets in on top of a burn.....the only way to get rid of it......is to cut it out. You have to be able to endure the after treatment, you have seen TV shows on what burn patients go though.....it's NOT pleasant. There is also a lot of really gross things going on while you are healing....you bleed, you have bruises all over, your burnt, nasty, yucky stuff coming out of your pores, burn ointment all over 24/7 for the first 10 days. The women in my doctors office see this everyday, they all have said.......they have never really gotten 'used to' seeing a laser patient. It's bad, real bad. You can't cry because the salt in your tears makes matters even worse. If you don't do the aftercare.....you are left with a mess
