No I dont think so, enforcement would cost more than the money raised, and wear and tear on the roads from cycles is negligible. Blimey where would it stop, pedestrians?

I really think the police should do something about the number of cycles without lights though.

Road Tax was abolished in the 1930s.

Look up www.ipayroadtax.com and have a little look And, if you're taking about the car tax (tax disks on cars), it's based on your emissions. Bicycles have no emissions. Therefore, it does not need to be taxed.

Its only a matter of time. This government must have a whole department full of people dreaming up ideas of how to tax us more and next on the list will be air. Oh yes it will, after all they have plans to tax the view from our homes.

Yes I do agree with you but probably not for the sqme reasons. Byke trails and paths should be paid for by the users.

Many that ride bikes do not conduct themselves responsibly and should have to take a byke safety course. Bike riders also should be subject to the helmet law. Bikes should be licensed and registered. They should have insurance as well. Most do and might not know it. Most home owner policies do cover pedal bikes.

I do think most of thi9s will come to pass in time.

Riders should be Tested, Taxed, Insured and carry number plates.
they should also be subject to the 'Rules of the Road' and not do stupid things like riding on footpaths.

Tax No.

Insurance YES!

I see many near misses with cyclist not paying attention then blaming it on anyone or anything.
I used to ride my bike to work every day (about 24miles) and never had a problem.

That is the problem, they don't use the bloody roads, they are always on the pavement, but yes they should pay tax.
