They were not racist, They were portrayed to be racist, just like the Black and White Minstrel Show. I find the biggest racists today are the so called Garage/R&b/Rap singers who have to use the word Nig ger in there songs and get away with it. The white man cannot say the word and the blacks fought for years to rid the world of such sayings. I think it must be a lack of imagination on behalf of the artist or perhaps these artists put themselves above the rest of black people. If I wrote a song I wouldn't use words like White Trash just to sell a song.

Robinsons marmalade and jam, yes I do and I still have all the Gollywog badges that I collected as a child, I also have the Gollywog band too, worth a bob or two these days but I love them too much to ever sell them on, I have never seen them as racist just cute.

I have never seen a racist Marmalade jar. I have seen jars with some cute, harmless characters on them. That's about it.

Do you mean the 'Gollywog' ones? Yes I remember them. My teacher at primary school used to collect the pin badges from them. They used to do soft toys and various other collectibles until people realised they were actually offensive!

They were not racist they just featured a golly wog and the PC idiots of our modern society turned a harmless icon into a racist trademark how bloody appalling.
