* When expletives are used throughout the show, various nautical/marine animal sounds are played, apparently to cover-up the actual words so they cannot be heard by the viewers. A unique sound is used for each of the 13 words. However, at the end of the show it is clear that those sounds are the actual sounds emanating from the character's mouths—specifically, they hear each other make those sounds during their speech. The evidence for that is at the end of the show, when they think Mama Krabs uses a swear word, only to find that it was her neighbor, Old Man Jenkins, sounding the horn of his old jalopy. This means that the horn of his Jalopy curses at you.
* Speaking of which, Old Man Jenkins has 2 different voices in this episode.
* "Nematodes are people too" is a reference to another Nick cartoon, Doug, where the Nematode was part of the town of Bluffington's mythos.
* The episode was criticized by many parents; despite it being a moral episode on teaching kids not to curse, there were complaints that the episode was the beginning of adult content creeping into SpongeBob.
* If you look close enough, you can read the characters' lips.
* If you look closely at the dumpster, you can see the words "Patchy was here."
* Squidward's saying, "Don't you mean they're only seven?", could be a possible reference on George Carlin's "Seven Words You Can't Say on TV "
* First appearance of Mama Krabs.
* Mama Krabs has a completely different voice than the one used for her in Enemy In-Law
* The board game SpongeBob and Patrick play, Eels and Escalators, is a spoof of Snakes and Ladders.
* When SpongeBob and Mr. Krabs say "Number Eleven", on some parts the "f" pronunciation before the dolphin chirps can be heard if observed closely. This possibly indicates that "Number Eleven" could be %#$@ or variations of it (example: -ing).
* "Sailor Mouth" is the stereotype of sailors constantly speaking in a vulgar manner.
* Mrs. Krabs's laugh sounds very similar to Popeye.
* Mrs. Krabs is voiced by Paul Tibbitt who is male.
* This was the first new SpongeBob episode to air after the September 11th attacks.
* There are a total of approximately 55 times swear words are said.
* On the December 2, 2006 reairing of this episode when Patrick and Spongebob are playing Eels and Escalators their lips do not move and they sit there perfectly still as a result of a temporary error which lasted about three seconds, which it was not like in previous airings of this episode.
[edit] Quotes
* (At SpongeBob's House)
SpongeBob: Yea verily. Now let's play a nice wholesome game of Eels and Escalators.
Patrick: Oh boy, my favorite!
SpongeBob: Come on, Gary needs a new pair of shoes.
Patrick: Ooh, eels. Too bad, SpongeBob. You gotta ride the eel.
SpongeBob: Darn.
Patrick: My turn! (after dice is rolled) Hooray! Escalators! Woo hoo! Up, up, up!
SpongeBob: Come on, escaltors, escalators, escalators. (rolls the dice) (sighs) Eels again.
Patrick: My turn! (rolls the dice) Escalators!
SpongeBob: Ooooh, (frustrated) Escalators, Escalators, Escalators! (rolls the dice) Eels?
Patrick: (rolls the dice) Ess-skee-lators! Well, this is your last chance, SpongeBob. Or if you get eels again, you lose.
SpongeBob: Ooooooh, (more frustrated) ESCALATORS, ESCALATORS, ESCALATORS!!!! (rolls the dice) Ha! Escalators! (the dice flip over, revealing eels)
Patrick: Eels.
SpongeBob: Bah! ( dolphin chirps )
Patrick: Ohhhhh. You said number 11.
SpongeBob: I-I-I I didn't mean... You gotta understand, Patrick. I was trying.. What I meant to say... Somethings just slip out. You gotta understand!
Patrick: Don't worry SpongeBob. I understand. (sits still) MR. KRABS! MR. KRABS! MR. KRABS! MR. KRABS!
(outside)
SpongeBob: Patrick! Patrick, No! Please don't tell.
Patrick: But you said ( dolphin chirps ).
SpongeBob: Aha! Now I'm gonna tell Mr. Krabs on you!
Patrick: Not if I tell first!
SpongeBob: I can run faster than you! (laughs)
(Patrick is on the Ice Cream Truck)
Patrick: See ya at the Krusty Krab! (laughs, then the ice cream truck turns down another road.) Oh Noooooo!
SpongeBob: (laughs, then enters the Krusty Krab) Mr. Krabs! Mr. Krabs! Mr. Krabs!
Mr. Krabs: What? What? What?
SpongeBob: Patrick! Patrick! Patrick!
Mr. Krabs: Yes? Yes? Yes?
SpongeBob: He said! He said! He said!
Mr. Krabs: Out with it, boy!
SpongeBob: (quickly) Me and Patrick were playing Eels and Escalators and he was going up, up, up, and I had to ride the eel and then we ran and then Patrick, he said some things.
Mr. Krabs: What kind of things?
SpongeBob: Well, he said...
Mr. Krabs: Yes?
SpongeBob: Well, um, let's just say he said a certain word and this particular word happens to be word number eleven on a list of thirteen words that you said shouldn't be said!
Mr. Krabs: Uh, right, what was that part about what, what, the… uh… about… who now?
(Patrick ate his Ice Cream)
Patrick: Mr. Krabs! Mr. Krabs! Mr. Krabs!
Mr. Krabs: (sighs)
(SpongeBob and Patrick arguing)
Mr. Krabs: Now I’m gonna let go of your lips, and when I do, I want you to calmly tell me what you need to tell me! Understand?
SpongeBob and Patrick: He said ( dolphin chirps )!
* (At Mama Krabs' House)
Mama Krabs: Yeow my ( honks ) foot!
( all gasp )
Mr. Krabs: Mother!
Mama Krabs: What? It's Old Man Jenkins in his jalopy.
Old Man Jenkins: Howdy Mrs. K.!

RE:
On Spongebob Squarepants, what are the 13 bad words?
On the Sailor mouth episode, Mr. Krab states that there are 7 Regular and 6 Sailor making an overall of 13 bad words. Can anyone think some of them up? Please use astricks or hints on the word so that you don't get in trouble. Also, is the main word in the show the f word?

Oh, stop it! Moron and imbecile are actually medical terms that describe patients with diminished iq' s.
If people would stop being thin skinned and taking offense at people who obviously don't know the meaning of them, it wouldn't be an issue at all.
Yes, a great kids show!
