I agree with you in that "One Nation under God" is not scandalous. Nor does it violate the so called "establishment clause." The establishment clause was put in place to stop the federal government from establishing a national church, like Anglicism was in England. The establishment clause does not speak about offending an atheist, Hindu, Jew, etc...

Interestingly enough, originally, the establishment clause did not prohibit states from establishing their own "state religion". So anyway, do not believe the lie that this nation was not founded on Christianity.

Actually I see nothing wrong with saying One nation under God. When my family escaped the communists in 1948, I went to the American school in Germany. At that time the Pledge of Allegiance went " One nation indivisible" and no under God. To me perhaps, the old way was better because in a conflict both sides pray to God, but only one side wins.

That would be an even more egregious violation of the establishment clause. The "under God" phrase was only added in the 1950s, apparently because a good share of the public believed American-style Democracy and Soviet-style Communism otherwise indistinguishable.

In the name of the Father, the son, and the holy spirit. When you speak of god, you speak of everyone. If you were to put 'One Nation under Christ' it would only be for christians (and the various religions that splintered from it) and catholicism. How God is for everyone of all walks of life. Even if you are atheist, you still live under him for he gave you the right to not believe in him. Christ only goes for certain religions of groups of people. God goes for it all.

It doesn't really matter. It is all involved with acknowleding that we are a nation united under God, our money reminds us of that. I think we should follow suite with the Chickisaw Nation. Their motto is "United We Thrive." It shows the future of growth and prosperity. Our motto shows that we stand- where we are and hope to high heavens that we stand 'United'

Last time I checked one attribute that didn't seem to be a high priority of Americans was trying to impress anyone.

There is nothing wrong with the Pledge of Allegiance as it is today.

If you don't like it, write your own. That is your right.

That would sort of fly in the face of freedom of religion, you know? Pretty sure we might have some Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Taoist, etc, etc. that would fail to be impressed.
