About 3 years ago I tore my crucial ligament playing football… They had to operate on my knee to realign the ligaments again; I completed 6 months of physiotherapy and was told me knee has fully recovered!

It’s been 3 years now and my knee will still gets very tight and stiff if I walk or stand on it for long periods of time (nothing happens to my right knee) also when the weather is cold outside my knee will be in a lot of pain and once it start to walk the pain gets even worse, I have tried pain killer they do not help. I have been to see my doctor, actually I have lost count now how many times I have been they keep saying its because I am overweight, I don’t believe this to be true as nothing is wrong with my right knee; I just think they are just using my weight against me to stall as the NHS is overloaded and cant take new patient.

Does anyone know what I can do to ease my pain or how to fully recover as its been 3 years now and still I am in pain. Does anyone else suffer from the same problem I have and what have you done to get better? Is it worth me going to a knee specialist and does anyone know how much it will cost?

Yes! I do know! I am not overweight but had serious knee problems due to injuries sustained on the job. I have an excellent Md who suggestd I take glucosamine chondroitin, so I did. I also had MSM in the supplement. It helped so much right away! after a year my knees feel completely better and I don't even take the Glucosamine chondroitin any more.
The supplements were about 25.00 for a supply that lasted about 3 months. It was definately worth it!
Good luck to you.

Yes it's worth going to a knee specialist! :)

Both my knees are bad as I have previous injuries in both of them, so I know what you're going through. I went to an orthopedic doctor and she helped a lot. Chiropractors are also great, I definitely recommend that. I can't help with the prices because it depends on what kind of insurance you have.

As far as pain in cold weather goes? I don't think there's much you can do about that. I sprained my right knee for the first time 5 years ago, and my left for the first time 3 years ago, and I still get pain from cold and rain. Have you tried Motrin? I swear on that stuff, I take 3 for my knee pain and it works wonders.

And as much as I hate to say it, losing weight actually WILL help your knees--both of them! When your body is overweight, it puts more strain on your knees and ankles to carry all the weight, which makes joints more fragile (and prone to injury), and recovery of joint injuries more difficult. It could be one of the reasons why standing for long periods of time makes your knee tighten up.

Well, I hope that helped. Good luck!!

i pass to furnish McGraw Hill the earnings of the doubt, that her advice of four x 200mg of Motrin replaced right into a typo. Prescription ibuprofen is six hundred mg in keeping with dose, no longer 800. confident, see a doctor! that style of discomfort isn't a element to forget approximately approximately! Do your knees harm with the two forms of saddle? My knees often go through whilst driving a western saddle if the stirrups are not grew to become properly, and an English saddle if the stirrups are too short *for my selection*. confident, I desire an prolonged stirrup than is *maximum suitable*, incredibly in comparison to a leaping stirrup length. For the western, soak the stirrup leathers and hose down the backside of the fenders (do no longer soak them because of the fact the moist place will leave a mark on the front section), then turn the stirrups and carry them in place till they dry. that's appropriate to try this around a barrel or something which will push against the stirrup to tension the leathers to bend sharply. basically putting on a sawhorse heavily isn't as powerful, even with the undeniable fact that it is going to help some. If the saddle has purchasers with diverse leg lengths, that's appropriate to grease and soften the leathers the place they pass over the tree, then you definately can pass that end as a substitute of shifting the intently formed stirrup end and dropping that shaping. i've got got here upon that the pony liniment referred to as Thermoflex Gel is great for painful joints and stiff muscle mass - yet i'm extra beneficial than thrice your age! you may desire to no longer be suffering this way at age 14, and it may desire to be doing injury which will reason you even worse discomfort as you age. Please see a doctor or activities therapist approximately this! you additionally can paintings on your horse's "want" for "various leg". A properly-knowledgeable horse could desire to respond to gentle cues from legs and reins. in case you won't be able to get advice from a coach to lighten your horse's responses, get some gentle spurs to cut back the quantity of tension you are able to desire to stick to.
