It is a chemical element with the symbol Kr and atomic number 36. A colorless, odorless, tasteless noble gas. It is a noble gas due to its very low chemical reactivity, is characterized by a brilliant green and orange spectral signature. It is one of the products of uranium fission.

Some interesting fact. The planet Krypton is Clark Kent's home world.

Krypton is a planet in the Rao System, located in the Kryptonian Galaxy, about 6 million light-years from Earth. It would take at least two years to get to Earth from Krypton, and back. A planet roughly the same size as Earth orbiting a red giant, Krypton originated like many planets do, but it was destined for eventual destruction. Krypton was described as a stark white terrain of jagged frozen plateaus, stretching broadly under heavy dark skies.

Born six billion years ago, Krypton occupied the same solar system. Although the planet Krypton was much like Earth in a multitude of ways, its sun was red and the terrain was were substantially different from Earth's and the weight of its gravity was incredibly stronger.

This planet was of staggering richness and incomparable natural beauty. Life evolved on Krypton like many other planets through strife and conflict. The inhabitants had great intelligence and physical perfection. Possessed of high intelligence, the people of Krypton had built an intense scientific civilization far beyond that of Earth. Krypton had a ruling council that completely dominated and governed the planet. Scientifically and technologically, Kryptonian civilization was far advanced over that of Earth. Astronomy on Krypton was highly advanced, enabling Kryptonian scientists to study Earth and presumably other planets with excruciating clarity, by means of translating their conversations and tune in on selected alien individuals.

Kryptonians store their information on crystals.

Krypton is a gas, one of the Nobel gases. It is called a "Nobel gas" because it doesn't react with anything, not even its own element atoms.

Gases like oxygen and nitrogen exist in air as diatomic atoms. Two atoms of oxygen or two atoms of nitrogen bond together to make the air we breathe. But Krypton does not bond with anything.

The Nobel gases don't bond or react with anything because they have the maximum number of electrons needed to fill their outermost electron orbitals.

From Wikipedia: "Krypton (Greek κρυπτός meaning "hidden") was discovered in Great Britain, 1898 by Sir William Ramsay and Morris Travers in residue left from evaporating nearly all components of liquid air."

All the stuff about Superman is fun stuff to read by has nothing to do with science and should not be included in a science report. If you did, that would tell everyone you cannot distinguish between facts and fiction.
