althou the bike is drop dead sexy as heck, the R6 is not a good "starter" bike.
i am a 29 yr old female who is just now (after 6 yers of expierience) looking to upgrade to the R6.
i would reccomend getting a 500 (any brand), or a sv650 to learn on and then upgrade.
i feel this way becasue i know that the power of the R6 is not something to take lightly. being a beginner, you will drop the bike, it is a part of learning. (just tipping it over is "dropping" and i did it too).
also on an sv650(suzuki) you are looking at alot less for insurance, especially being 21. invest in some frame sliders take it easy learning and then, when you are ready, upgrade.

NO, you had better start in the 250 or lower class you have no idea what an r6 is capable of. Find a motorcycle class and learn how to ride on their bikes usually they qualify you for a license if you complete the course. Don' t give in too what looks good and get yourself hurt. 90% of theriders on a r6 cant use them to its ability. If you think Im kidding just look at the back tire it doesnt lie. If the tire is not worn to the edge they are not skilled period

Just learning? Nope, you'll hurt yourself. yamaha r6 is a great bike in every way but nothing to learn on. Get something light and low powered to learn all those, "I'll never do that again" lessons.

Absolutely not ! The R-6 is a full blown racer, kicks out 123 H.P.
and is way to powerful for a beginner, get yourself a Kawasaki Ninja 250 for the first year, you may just love it!

No, it's too much bike for a beginner, female or not. Look at a more easily rideable bike like an SV650 or GS500.
