Chinese. They started the concept of kicking a ball through a hoop. It was called Cuju (Chujzi). It was so fascinating, they even combined it with Kung-Fu. They exported the game via the silk road. The "kicking game" was played in Europe and then the English invented the modern game. BUT without the Chinese ideas, there would be NO football to enjoy today. It seems like everything came from China! HAHAHA

LIVERPOOL FC AND IN PARTICULAR BILL SHANKLY INVENTED FOOTBALL. Before then it was nothing.
Let me give you 10 reasons why the world owes Liverpool a debt of gratitude for being the words best team:
1/ Eighteen league titles (Man United are still just second on 15)
2/ Five European Cups (that's the same amount as all the other English clubs who have won it put together, United only have it twice)
3/ Seven FA Cups (and the current holders)
4/ Seven League Cups (more than any other team)
5/ Three UEFA Cups (and the last British team to win it)
6/ Three European Super Cups
7/ Fifteen Charity Shields (and current holders)
8/ Several managers recognised as the worlds best, especially Shankly and Paisley although Rafa has been even more successful as Mourinho having won two pieces of European silverware (which includes his UEFA Cup with Valencia)
9/ The most passionate, knowledgeable, sizeable (in terms of global numbers), vocal and loyal fans in the world (nothing and no-one beats hearing 50,000 sing you'll never walk alone at kick off). Remember - many fans have tragically given their lives for the love of Liverpool.
10/ A glorious history of fast moving, tough, unforgiving, creative, attacking, skillful and ultimately successful football from a huge list of global (and often homegrown) stars including Keegan, Rush, Barnes, Hansen, Souness, Fowler, Owen, Gerrard, Carragher, Aldridge, Johnson, Dalglish, Mcallister, McManaman, Beardsley, Molby, Nicol, Grobbelar, Neal, Kennedy, Toshak, McDermot, Kennedy, Heighway, Lee, Thompson, Yeats, Clemence, Moran, Paisley, Liddell, Stubbins, Forshaw, Lacey AND THE LIST GOES ON!
The likes of the manks and the Chelsea boys will try and shoot this down but they don't come close on silverware, history, class or future potential so jog on kids. We invented football and we're constantly reinventing it.
WE WON IT FIVE TIMES

Its not a question of who, because it originated from working class levels back in the 19th century.
Football originated from the streets, and games back then were set up in towns. Rules were known only by friends, and the game only got approved when a meeting was held to discuss the matter, late in the 1800's. Games like rugby originated from football, when a man picked up the ball and ran the length of a pitch for a laugh!
Its a long history, and I spent a year studying it!

The Chinese.
At Thursday's opening ceremony for the Third International Football Expo in Beijing, FIFA president Joseph S. Blatter said his organization concurs with the findings of the Chinese Football Association (CFA), which has officially concluded football originated in Linzi, Zibo of Shandong Province.

Mary, Queen of Scots! So the records say and she liked
Cricket also! The first football is in a museum, made from
a sheep‘s stomach and sewn in sections like present day
balls. However, not air inflated but stuffed with cotton or
wool. It is in a museum in Scotland and, apparently was sent
to Germany to the football museum as a curiosity. You can check
this up in a Google search or in the "Scotsman" newspaper.

Soccer, as we know it, was invented in the 1870s with the foundation of the English FA. It, however, has its roots in various games ranging from peasants kicking a pig's bladder around to a Chinese rugby-like game.

Modern football was established in the mid 19th Century, However, its origins can be traced back to the ancient Chinese in around 2500BC, whilst in England, Edward II banned it as long ago as the early 1300s.
