turtles "shed" their shells during the winter months. it means he is getting bigger. dont do it for him as it may hurt him if that part isnt ready to come off. when its ready it will just fall off in the water.

I wouldn't worry about it. Peeling ( I believe called molting) is normal behavior for reptiles. Your turtle is growing and needs to get rid of its old skin that doesn't "fit" any more. It's kind of like when snakes shed their skin. I'm no expert but I'm certain I read that somewhere.

its normal, my turtles shed a couple times a year. just means they are getting bigger. do not peel it off. it will come off on its own.

Im not sure exactly what it means but I do know that you should deffinatley not peel it. Just let it happen on its own.
