ODD question, English the basis of the most Canadians, as French is the basis of some Canadians. BUT AFTER THAT YOUR ON YOUR OWN. French Canadian is only a bit like French, and English Canadian is only a bit like English (especially given the fact your nearly all Scots anyway!!!) Its a brave new world, love it or hate it.

In case you don't know, English is one of the official language other than French. Are you one of those Americans who thinks Canadians speak "Canadian"?
This is one of my college friend's experience: she went to the states as an exchange student. After she introduced herself as from Canada, the student sitting next to her said: "Wow, your English has no accent!"

Having loads of relatives - that were born in Scotland - who now live in Canada - from Scarborough - to Vancouver Island I laugh when I hear them...its like they are on Helium and trying to talk like an English Aristocrat..and they want everyone to hear them..as for the Mon-ree-all punters - what are they on ? heeehoo heehoo yeealll .too much garlic & frogs legs..

Don't know but I hope they don't all start speaking French because I wouldn't be able to understand what Geddy Lee was singing as I don't speak French.
