Not quite sure how you change that but for your own good, change now! I didn't think much about the fiscal future and now I'm in one heck of a mess. I'm 79 years old, have a big mortgage on my house, a very small bank account. Oh yeah, I drove the new cars, took expensive vacations using credit cards and all that. You must start saving for the future...put aside 10% of your income and forget it. Pay cash for your needs. I wish you good luck.

Start reading and I suggest take a 13 week course in personal finance
Read: The Total Money Make Over or Financial Peace Revisited by Dave Ramsey
Go to: www.daveramsey.com and find the Financial Peace University (FPU) class in your area and attend, it will help you figure out your attitude towards money and for 13 weeks it keeps you accountable to change!! Then it should start to become habit!

You are a prime candidiate for an automatic withdrawal from your paycheck before you even see the money. If you employer offers any kind of match with a retirement fund, do that. They will take out a portion of your check before you see it, and match it. You will be eternally grateful to your younger self for figuring out how to save for your older self! You will be old before you know it and it's impossible to save the money you will need if you don't start early. good luck!

First of all... start today.
Have your employer set up your paycheck for automatic deposit... Have 1/10Th of your weekly check go into a savings account...
Also... if your employer offers any kind of retirement accounts... have the money automatically taken out of your pay. This accumulates really fast and since you can't touch it until retirement without a penalty... it works for you.
If you take all of the money from your check... you will probably spend all of it too! "Out of sight... out of mind"... meaning if you can't see it you won't spend it.
Here's a real tough one for most people to do... Lock up your credit card for one year. (Cutting it up is better). Don't buy anything unless you have the cash to do it... Credit cards make it too easy to buy on tomorrow's money.
Good Luck

Get a lobotomy or develop some self discipline. What ever is easiest, of course.
