1991 Subaru Legacy sedan....... car window was smashed out last night..... is it hard to replace???? (by yourself)... ..anyone know off hand how much it'll run me?

bear in mind I have dropped a gas tank and replaced fuel lines before.......

as long as you have some basic car knlodege you should be fine.
its not that expensive either, try hittin up junk yards

Well if your mechanically inclined enough to drop a fuel tank and change fuel lines, I believe changing a door window won't be that hard for you. Just remove door panel, and I think you may have to remove side view mirror too, if I remember correctly. When you get to the door frame, hook the window switch back up and move track to where you can see the two nuts that hold window to track. Remove these two nuts and clean old glass from track. Also run a screw driver up the window guides to remove glass, as it will be tough to see. (This will be the most aggravating part of the whole job.) Then slide New glass in very carefully and seat down in track. bolt glass back on track and tighten the two nuts back down. Install door panel and mirror the exact way you took them off!

Mechanical aside.. Check with your insurance company. Glass replacement is usually a comprehensive claim, usually a 0 dollar deductible.
Call your insurance agent.
Replacing the glass yourself is not a major project.

as long as you line it up ok you should be fine, and assuming you can get the door interior off ok. you can alway look at the other one if you are not sure
