Why don't all the people who whine about their lives being in the crapper, and threaten suicide just go ahead and do it, and decrease the excess population???
Or are they only wanting attention???

People who talk about killing themselves are the people most likely to do it. Sad, but true. They aren't whining. Yes, they are trying to get attention, its a cry for help. Have some compassion.

Most of these people are truly in pain. Been there, done that, got the shock to prove it. They sink so low that their mind shifts out of gear and they do go ahead and do it. Put yourself in their shoes and see what they see, feel what they feel try to understand why they feel this way. It's not always for attention. It's because they are tormented by other people. They are the wallflowers, the child everyone picked on, the child who grew up without friends.
So don't whine about someone who cries out in pain, help them.

That is a horrible thing to say. People who are threatening to do that are obviously in a not so good place and their mental state of mind is not so great. Plus people who want "attention" just don't get enough attention. Whether its from family Friends whoever. They desperately need attention, everyone does even you and if people don't get enough they start doing things to get themselves attention not necessarily good things.

annoying as they r, most ppl who threaten to commit suicide will do it if they r not helped.yes, they want attention and they thought that if there r some ppl who care 4 them, they have the reason and the will to live.usually these kind of ppl are the leftouts, outcast or whatever the society labels them.often, ppl dont realised their presence or existence.dont u noticed that some ppl dont even know every of their classmates?have compassion.help them.dont be like most ppl, only flocking the beautiful and popular ones.treat everyone the same.dont give excuse like 'instead,y dont u ask them to talk to others?".they r too shy becoz they r often rejected

I think one reason is uncertainty and perhaps some fear about what - if anything - comes next. Those who go ahead with it in my opinion believe in an afterlife where everything will be okay whereas those who talk about it but can't quite do it are afraid of what comes next - they are torne between hope and fear - but neither are they happy in this life. It's a very big step.

they are trying to get help and they can't figure out any other way to get people attention. or they have tried and no one listens or takes them SERIOUSLY!!!
Suicide is they only opition they THINK they have left because nothing else has worked for them. People who say they care don't give them the time they need or the open minds they need.
People who commit suicide cvan't deal with the world anymore and they feel there is no other way out of thier problems.
It is not something you should encourage in anyway shape or form.
LISTEN, sometimes that all people need is someone to just LISTEN!!!

They want help. My psychiatrist's office gets monthly bulletins from John Hopkins re mental illnesses which states that people who tell others they will commit suicide eventually do it.

That's harsh but for the most part they want attention. Maybe thats their way for asking for help.

I, unfortunately, agree with you...my attitude it don't just talk about it, do it!!!!!!!!!!! People who seriously are sad enough to want to die, usually just do it, maybe leaving a note, maybe not. The ones that talk about it, either want the help or attention, or want to make someone feel bad about their life...Get a grip, or help, whatever works!

Asking total strangers for "help" is the one last desperate cry for help.
It may be "annoying", but shouldn't we give one last shred fo hope to those who seek it?
