I would say skiing. Skiing is easier because you don't have to balance both of your feet on one board. Each foot is seperate and therefore makes it easier to balance. Also, skiing would be easier because it is easier to stop when you are on skis. On a snow board, you have to turn the board the same way as the mountain to stop yourself. On skis, to stop all you have to do is put the tips of the skis together. :- )

It depends on two things:
1. What you would rather see him do.
2. How easily he learns each. Certain kids have a much easier time learning how to snowboard than how to ski and vice versa. Try him with whatever you pick and if he is struggling or not enjoying himself, then try him in the other.

Maybe your son should try skiing and then snowboarding.
Skiing is easier to start out with.Snowboarding is harder to control on the snow trails.

I would say skiing for now. He can always switch when he gets older. I started with skiing (at age 3) and I'm glad I skied first. I think he would have more fun skiing because you're not falling down as much when you learn to snowboard.

Hope this helps!!

Snowboarding. Skiing is no longer "cool" among teens and I am one. We all snowboard and it is just becoming popular and I find it extremely fun and I learned quickly.

And if he breaks a leg... Would you feel that you were totally irresponsible?

I would wait a few more years before I did that to my child... (Dont force "your" sport, or your dreams on your kid, because you like it... Let them decide for themselves, then, give them all the help you can when the time comes).

I wish you well..
