Not a Tiger fan but its a good move. Continuity is big in Baseball. Maintain what got you there and thrive. The Yanks did it 96-2000 and won consistently.

Bonderman went 14-8 last year with a era of 4.08 and made $2.3 million at the age of 24. It's good that they locked him up for the next for four years but they definitely over paid for him. He's worth about $4 to $5 million a year max. Johan Sanata makes $8 million a year. There's a big difference.

Decent walk to strike out ratio but the ERA is questionable. He's still young and if the Tigers can get 14 or more wins out of him each year it's not a bad signing. If he can bring down the ERA he'll be fine. It's a lot of money but I guess that's the going rate for decent starters anymore. I'd say yes, the Tigers did good!

HUGE move by Detroit. Look at what pitchers are getting paid in this market? You get this guy two extra years for 8.5 and 12 million? By the time those contracts come around he might be worth a lot more in the market.

It is good move, 9 mil a year for a #3 starter thats good, he is only 24. Also in the post season, when it matters most he had a 3.25 era. Guys like meche and lilly got 5 year 55 mil, and 4 year 40 mil, i would definitley take this guy over them.

I think that they need to spend the entire spring training working with their pitchers as they seem to have a hard time handling routine plays when the ball gets hit back to them.
