Oh it is pretty difficult if you never done it before... I think you should go to your mechanic and ask him to do it for you... you ca buy yourself a window from a junk yard and go to the mechanic with the new window would be cheaper in my opinion!!!
hope this helps

Well if your mechanically inclined enough to drop a fuel tank and change fuel lines, I believe changing a door window won't be that hard for you.
Just remove door panel, and I think you may have to remove side view mirror too, if I remember correctly.
When you get to the door frame, hook the window switch back up and move track to where you can see the two nuts that hold window to track. Remove these two nuts and clean old glass from track. Also run a screw driver up the window guides to remove glass, as it will be tough to see. (This will be the most aggravating part of the whole job.) Then slide New glass in very carefully and seat down in track. bolt glass back on track and tighten the two nuts back down.
Install door panel and mirror the exact way you took them off!

Mechanical aside.. Check with your insurance company. Glass replacement is usually a comprehensive claim, usually a 0 dollar deductible. Call your insurance agent. Replacing the glass yourself is not a major project.

There are so many discount auto glass companies that will come to your residence and and install a new one at a reasonable price that it's really not worth your time to do it yourself.
Subaru's are pretty expensive to repair... but if you shop around you should be able to get a decent price.

Car windows can be quite expensive, my advice is to try a junk yard first.. And yes they can be a pain in the rear to change, have someone help you or do it for you..

your best bet would be to look up a small "mom&pop" glass place. they usualy have the best prices. you should be looking to pay somewhere under $200.
