If it is an "inner" soul, obviously you are in constant contact with it. You do not need to even try to contact you inner soul.
You only need to realize this simple fact that you cannot be out of contact with the soul. Spirituality helps you in realizing that.

No, it is neither religion nor spirituality per se..... it is human values that take us nearest to our inner soul. Our own conscience knows what human values are and the reminders coming from going to church or doing meditation or reading spiritual books or hearing spiritual discourses are not only unnecessary, but also often ineffective if one does not choose to listen to own inner voice.
