i borrowed 50 dollars from my mom and 50 dollars from my dad, later, i used the 97 dollars to buy toys, so that means that i have 3 dollars left. i gave my mom 1 dollar and 1 dollar to my dad, so my debt to my mom is now 49 dollars and to my dad 49 dollars, so that would be 49 +49= 98 + the remaining 1 dollar that i have will make it 99 dollars. can anyone help me figure out what happened to the oter dollar? the total should have been 100 dollars but i cant figure out why it happened

"...and to my dad 49 dollars,...98":so far so good. You owe 98 dollars to your two parents, because you have JUST GIVEN 2 out of 100 dollars to them. The remaining 1 dollar will not make it 99 dollars, it is already part of your debt (among the 98 dollars), and you owe it, since you have NOT given it back. The total is still 100=2given+1remaining+97spent, thus 97 must be regained, so that 97+1=98 can be returned.

Your problem is that you made a mistake. 97 for toys
2 back to your parents+99 you have 1 left, by the way, your debt to your parents is 50 each.Sounds like you are trying to short change them.
