Call him a few days after you've arrived in Argentina, make sure you are **** faced as well when you call. Tell him you are doing something with the Peace Corp and if he gives you **** be like "what...oh...being a humanitarian is all of a sudden a BAD thing!?"

I think you should have told him as soon as you planned to go on vacation. 5 weeks is a long time. I'm sure he depends on you for something.
