On the first slide click on Insert>Movies and Sounds>Sound from file. Choose to play it automatically. Now, if you want to keep the music playing for more than the current slide, right-click on the music icon and select Custom Animation. Then, in the Custom Animation task pane, click the drop-down arrow to the right of your sound file and choose Effect Options. In the Stop Playing section, select "After # slides" and fill in the # with the length of your slideshow. When you're ready click on File>Pack and Go>Copy to CD.

First save the song to your hard disk , then link the power point slide to the new location and bingo.
If u do not link it properly it will keep asking for CD as it was the default place to search for song.

Save the song in your computer. Then you don't have to insert the CD.

convert the cd track to an MP3 - use windows media player - then link the MP3 sound in rather than the CD and it will be in for good.
