I'm aware they aren't completely alien but the word 'wanker' went down quite well when I pointed out that Dubya's middle-name is Walker and you're missing a glorious opportunity for an insulting name if you're a Democrat. (It means a masturbator, a person of dubious morals or social abilities or a complete idiot. Though it's been used on The Simpsons at least twice, we're not allowed to broadcast those particular episodes uncut until 9pm. Here's another one - Bollocks. (as in the album 'Never Mind The Bollocks, here's the Sex Pistols which nearly got banned due to the cover). Bollocks - testicles ('Aaargh, you bastard, you kicked me in the bollocks!'), nonsense ('That Dubya don't half talk a lot of bollocks!'), a typical cuss word of frustration ('Bollocks! I've just missed the last bus home!'), and in other forms you can use 'You've certainly bollocksed that up', 'The boss wants to see you about screwing up that contract - you're getting a bollocking!'. All in the name of education!

Actually Sir Readalot, I agree with you when I'm forced to overhear the glottal, txt-msg language, estuary English spouted by some ill-educated teenager on their mobile phone.

A favorite expletive of mine in the English lexicon is bugger. Most of the time, when I call a fellow American a bugger, he thinks I'm calling him some sort of insect, when actually I am calling him much worse.

Edit: I really resent this gratuitous American bashing. Now bugger off.

By the way, I can speak and write better English than 90% of you anti-American Brits.

We could trade you one-for-one if you want to learn some English words from Americans. I notice that most of you Brits can turn mighty rude when you speak of America and are quite egotistical when it comes to your version of English. Why do you insult anyone who is not from the U.K. including French, Irish, Italians, Jews and all the rest? The empire is dead. Your version of English is quite different from that spoken in Shakespeare's day so don't keep insisting that the King's English (should we say Queen's English?) is pure and perfect. In fact, you may remember that King George the first was German and never learned to speak English. His son who succeeded him spoke English with a strong German accent. That was after the American colonies gave the thumbs down to your king so we missed out on the chance to learn that king's loverly English.

Why do you call your mamma mum? That's a flower, silly. The shortened form of mama is pronounced just like the first syllable of mama, mom. The scientist who first identified aluminum named it exactly that but some language snob group in your government overturned his naming because they wanted it to fit into the form of some other elements like sodium and barium. Yes, you shouldn't try to educate Americans. Our education is usually far superior to yours so you would be wasting our time. We are already familiar with all of the slang terms you have presented. Just as some countryside blokes in your country haven't a clue what Americans mean by "That turn was radical, dude," there will always be a few in the states who not only don't know what bugger means, they frankly don't give a damn, my dear.

so That is funny. However, I have to agree with Your Attorney, don't bother to try and educate the Americans. Any nation that calls a bum a fanny is not going to be easily educated.

The only problem with them is when you use them, it may not have the effect you desire, as it is an alien word to the person it is being dropped upon
