Take all of your clothes off, stand in front of the mirror and eat something (whilst naked) Then think how that makes you feel. Its likely to kick start your motivation again just like that.

First of all, WELL DONE, for losing the first stone.

You don't need a diet as such to lose weight, just eat less of what you would normally eat unless what you normally eat is fast food.

Dieting should not be about salads and the like. My mother went on a diet of sorts although it was more like a healthy eating plan. She just eat her normal meals but left a little on her plate instead of finishing it all.
She also undertook a little exercise, nothing too strenuous and she lost a couple of stone over a few months.

The whole secret of losing weight is to burn off more calories than you consume, whether through exercise or by eating less calories.

I make soup sometimes when I want a filling meal thats not too fattening. A can of chicken broth is good but chop up some chicken and add it to the pan. The extra chicken will help fill you up but it is very low in carbs and fat as is the soup.
Vegetables are very filling but low on fat and carbs in most cases.

If you lead an active lifestyle you need carbs to keep your energy levels up, if you don't then eat less carbs.

Starving yourself or missing meals is the worst you can do because your body compensates by slowing down your metabolism and when you eat again it overcompensates by storing fat.

A good breakfast will help kick start your metabolism and help to start the calorie burning each morning. Breakfast is the meal you should eat every day.

Good luck, I know you can do it

I know the feeling - I lost 14lbs in 2005 and put it all on again in 2006!

I was more disciplined when I had someone else dieting with me (I can be competitive!) AND I kept the weight off while I was exercising! Join a club (if you're in the UK there's Rosemary Conley Diet and Fitness Clubs [they include exercise], Slimming World or Weight Watchers - there may be others in your local area!

Try more exercise and do something you enjoy - if you don't like going to the gym then don't do it! go for something you will enjoy! If you have aerobic videos at home find a friend to exercise with!

Drink plenty of water - drink instead of eating in between meals when your brain tells you you're hungry (unless it IS a meal time!) I have found this helps!

Don't beat yourself up if you fail one day - tomorrow's always a new day to start again!

All the best :)

ooh - what's a stone?
I've lost some weight recently too. I'm in your shoes as we speak...one thing that motivates me (and I don't BUY any of the clothes) is I go shopping. I just go to the store and peak around at all the pretty clothes and think about how much I'd like to wear a certain outfit and tell myself I need to lay off the food so I can get into it! :)
Sometimes I have to do this for 2 or 3 days in a row...and at lunch time is the best. :) Instead of eating, I just go look at the skinny clothes!

If your body doesn't like you to eat less than it needs; it will think you are starving. If you go on a severely limited diet, your body will do a bunch of irritating things, such as: giving you hunger pains, making you feel tired and sluggish, drawing the energy it needs from your muscle tissue as well as your fat, etc. Therefore, you shouldn't try to lose weight by dieting alone.

You have to exercise in addition to eating less, so that your body knows that you are still doing just fine and is forced to maintain your lean body mass and live off your fat. If you eat fewer calories than your body needs, but don't go under your requirements by much, and exercise enough that your body keeps going and burns even more fat to do so, you will lose weight. And all the unpleasant nicknames that go with being a tubbo.

Let's say you want to lose two pounds per week. To do so, you need to figure out how many calories a person of your age, sex, and weight usually needs in a day subtract 500 from that amount, and follow a diet that provides you with that many calories. For example, if you would ordinarily need 3000 calories in a day, you would follow a 2500 calorie per day diet. Then you figure out how much exercise a person of your weight would need to do to burn 500 calories per day and you get off your lazy *** and do it. The result is simple. 500 fewer calories consumed plus (minus, actually, but I don't want to confuse you) 500 more calories expended equals a 1000 calorie per day deficit, which, over the course of a week adds up to 7000 calories, or two pounds. Your mileage may vary, but there's no getting around it. If your body is consuming fewer calories than it's expending, something's got to go.

I myself am quite fat and excercise seemed boring.
I then realized that if I were to take part in an excercise programme that was fun, I could loose weight easily. Like sports.
Even doing it in front of the TV is good. After a week or so excercising in front of the TV while your watching you dont even realise that your doing it. A helpful suggestion, never push yourself too much. If you were on a tredmil, walk a km a day. After 4 days make it 1.5 or 2 depending on your weight. If you are around 80 kg's make it 2.
I have done this myself and in a month lost 5 kg's. Be firm with yourself. If you feel hungry after a meal, do something to get your mind of it, games, books etc.
This is no joke, at 12 I was 80 kg's now at 13 I'm 60 and still losing more weight.
If the distance is short, try walking instead of taking a cab.
It's the little things like this that could make a big difference.

Post "You Can If You Think You Can!" on your fridge. Buy some smaller clothes as a goal to fit into, a reward system. Find new and tasty low fat 'rewards' to give yourself for being dedicated. Fine a group online to join where you can discuss these struggles with people going through the same battles. Thier experience and advice will guide you. Replace all high fat food items in your home with low fat items. Good luck, its a hard battle but very do-able.

When I diet and excersice I feel my blood cells depositing the fat in my kidneys for disposal and gearing up to attack those fat cells in my body for me to burn. Even if I don't go to the gym, I'll drink a protein shake and stay active walking a lot at work or keeping busy. When I get back home the tiredness means my body is still burning fat and I feel healthy even if I don't look it in the mirror.

buy something that you really like in a smaller size, it should get you motivated to start again. Or plan a night to go clubbing with friends and buy a new outfit that is smaller. Make it your goal to fit into it.

There are a few diet sayings I've heard.

One from a SlimFast commercial: "Its your life. Treat it right." (I kind of liked that one.)

I don't know if it was SlimFast or someone else who had: "Tomorrow means never."

A radio host said, "Rather than say, 'I'll diet tomorrow', say, 'I'll eat tomorrow'." He said it made doing without easier, and by the time "tomorrow" came the craving for food wasn't there.
