Set out a few cups with an inch or two of apple cider vinegar in them - all of the gnats/fruit flies will go into the cup and die (I tried this at my house and it really worked) may take 3-5 days but worked in 2 days for me

Most of your flea medications are for kittens age 8 weeks and over. To get rid of and keep fleas off, I suggest Frontline or Advantage. These are one month treatments sold in packaging of 3 or 6 months. These two products start working within 8-12 hours of application. After being treated your cat CAN go outside, because any flea that jumps on and bite your cat dies. True these treatments cost a little more, however are guaranteed to work. Many flea powders can also be used on welcome mats in front of your doors. Contrary to popular belief-humans are the biggest carriers of fleas. If you step anywhere there are fleas in someone's yard you will carry them on your shoes. If you already have fleas in the home Premise makes an upholstry and carpet spray that does not stain. Hope this helps.

In Zimbabwe fruit is expensive so if we have it we eat it too fast for the fruit flies to get a chance or for rot to set in.

So my remedy would be do not buy so much fruit that it rots or gets too over ripe attracting fruit flies.

Put a banana in a bowl of water, put plastic wrap on top with a few tiny holes in it, the flies will get inside, get confused on how they got in, and that will be the end of THAT !
