Seriously! I have been experiencing worsening depression 2 or 3 days prior to my period. I've never had this problem before. I'm 39 and have regular periods. I talked to my doctor about this, but he wants to put me on anti-depressant medication. I don't experience this all the time. Just for a few hours one day a month. Otherwise, I'm a very happy, cheerful person. Does anyone know of a homeopathic remedy? Would really like to know of any suggestions.

Serious answers only please. Rude or crude responses will be reported!

I should have noted that I do not use hormonal birth control. My hormones are all mine. Did I mention I'm 39? Can't remember. It's 4:00 am and I'm at work.

There are many changes that take place in your system during that time. Your body dumps a lot of hormones, for instance. A drop in something you need more of would easily leave you with a case of depression.

For homeopathic help, try St. Johns Wort. It really helps with depression and poor moods. Other remedies include:
Eating oatmeal in the morning. Oats are antidepressant and have a restorative tonic effect on the nerves. Borage is another remedy that directly eases depression. Seasoning your foods with Basil is another antidepressant remedy.

I hope something here helps you. You are likely to be able to find most of these items in a grocery store or in a health food shop. Basil is a medicinal herb that is also popular for cooking.

IT HAPPENS VERY OFTER TO THE MAJORITY OF THE WOMEN. THE REASON IS HORMONAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL. YOUR BODY PRODUCES ALOT OF HORMONES THAT DURING THE REST OF THE MONTHS ARE IN VERY SMALL AMOUNTS. THEY CAUSE DEPRESSION, ANGER, STRESS. THE PSYCHOLOGICAL REASON IS SUBCONSCIOUS. YOU ARE AWARE OF THE UNPLEASANT FEW DAYS AHEAD EVEN IF OTHERWISE YOU DON'T WORRY ABOUT THAT TOO MUCH. HAVE YOU BEEN ON BIRTH CONTROL PILLS? THEY REDUCE THE PMS IN A LOT OF WOMEN INCLUDING ME.
