You'll have to paint, varnish or replace the unfinished cedar/redwood anywhere around your home. You may have rot-resistant woods because you thought you wouldn't have to do those things but soft woods are very attractive to wood-boring bees. Wood stains don't do it because they don't repel enough. All wood gives off a decay odour which attracts bees. Caulk holes in wood decks and siding.
BTW - Bees are attracted to the blue-yellow area of the colour spectrum, as they cannot see red.
