I think you have a point. I do not speak for any Asian people, I only speak for myself. It may go so far as outright racism, a term I am quite careful with and try not to use carelessly, but it may also be the more subtle objectification of "the other." Be careful when you mention the avoidance of eye contact, since they do this often among their own race, let alone with outsiders.
I live in a Chinese society in Asia, and can see the appeal of the hip hop culture. It is used to sell all kinds of products, and young kids get a steady dose of nothing but hip hop. It's sad to see other forms of music looked down on because it's not the "in" thing. As for the combination of black women/asian men, it is rare. Although, you do see asian women/black men often.

I'm sorry about how you have been treated but just reading you're question and some of the answers offended me deeply. I am filipino meaning I am asian and I am proud. I have grown up in nz and 1 of my bestfriends is 1/2 african sme of my parents friends are black It's offending beacause you cant just group the chinese and "other asian races". Sure some people of many OTHERraces as well as asian may be racist towards black people which is stupid because it is giving into stereotypes and prejudice but not every single asian person in the world is. And asian people do not hate foreigners. You are a teacher you should know how to treat people. dont group them! Everyone is like a seperate different person with different beliefs in stuff. And as for why SOME chinese or asian people are racist towards black people it is probably how black people are portrayed, stereotyped, and judged in the media (which is unfair and stupid) and that happens everywhere.

I have to admit I've known a handful of Chinese people who have been pretty racist against black people. On the other hand some of the most ignorant stuff I've heard said about Asian people have come from black people's mouths- ching chong- hiya karate..****.
These are just my experiences. I am no way generalizing. I just think the cultures are at such a contrast and that's where they might clash.

It's only racial intolerence and those that think there's something wrong with people that have those sort of ideas, look at the animal kingdom. They do it all the time, there aren't a lot of cats for the sake of an example that will get along with different breeds of cats, e.g. lions, tigers, panthers, jaguars, cougars, etc. In animals it's OK but in humans, it's not tolerated. Who's right then?

I think Chinese people are more open to others than previous time.Chinese people seldom have a husband or a wife who is of color, because they think their the ways of life are different, the principle and the traditional culture are most different.
I also think other countries people have a prejudice against Asian people.

Their culture says it's not a bad thing, unlike ours. Go to China, and you'll see ONLY Chinese people. Of course they're going to gawk at any person not their own who sticks out like several sore thumbs.
You expect them to be tolerant of other ethnicities when female infanticide is perfectly legal and recommended?

It used to bother me, but don't worry about them. They only act like that so they can feel superior. But, they still need the white man's approval for some reason. Don't worry. Prejudiced people will not get away with it on judgment day. God will teach them a lesson.

Why should it MATTER TO US or you even be concerned of why they should or shouldn't like people of color?. Last time I checked, ASIANS were people of color too. I am sure, there are many Black people WHO DO NOT like Asians too, vise versa. Put that a side and mine your business. TRUST ME, there will ALWAYS BE a world of prejudice, hatred, and jealousy for whatever reason. Earth will NOT be 100% educated. It is IMPOSSIBLE.

Er... obviously you havn't been to Canada. One of my friends father is chinese and her mother is black.... and there are tonnes of couples like that.
But - I find this type of racism that you speak of common with the older generations - not all of them.
Remember, racism isn't specific to a race of people. Its everywhere.
