Our Instincts help us survive and grow in this universe, and our instincts are like double edged sword, its all in our hand how best we make use of it.
Hard work is listening to our conscience and nurturing it to grow and control our instincts.

Hard Work - OK try this on for size and you tell me - I worked for a small company for five years fifty + hours a week- all with the profit sharing plan as a company based investment plan - ya know "we own the place" BS well guess what - that 15% of my annual pay just got screwed as the two owners are getting a divorce and filing the company into bankruptcy. I own NOTHING thanks to these two - that's hard work brother - Now i have no job and no f-ing savings-

The best way I can answer that is to distinguish between physical labor, and having a good work ethic.
While physical labor is hard work; there are those who love it, and it's rather easy for them. And, just because someone has a physically demanding job, doesnt mean they work hard or do hard work.
One who has an excellent work ethic is one who does hard work.
Too many people dont care about their job. And, it shows. A good worker does what it takes to get the job done. There will be times when you can slack, but, then there will be times that one just has to "git er done"; regardless. A good employee is one who does whatever it takes to get the job done. They get results.
A good employee, a hard worker is not one who makes excuses. They see the job gets done.

Hard work in my oppinion is work that you have to do manually and with allot of energy sweat and mussel power , working under extremes of temperatures out in the dessert etc , now thats hard work , drain laying in india etc ,
