Personally I think it is all wrong, once again the deviant few mean that the rest of us law abiding citezens have to suffer. I dont want additional information about me stored anywhere. I dont want an ID card, and was under the impression that we lived in a democracy... erghh I dont recall voting on this. I further dont see why I should have to spend my hard earned cash on somthing I dont want, because some jumped up government forgetting about the fact there are people starving, people afraid to leave there homes, thinks that its a good idea. I dont have a spare 200 quid or what ever to pay for an ID card, and dont have the time to get one either as due to this governments poor managment I have to work to jobs to live a decent life style. Where will all of this end, linking our bank accounts to our cards, so that when we go in a shop they instantly know how much cash you have? a two tier system? Keeping tabs on your every move? they will be telling us what to wear? what to think? where to go next???? Well to be honest I am seriously thinking of getting out of this godforsaken country, it offers me nothing and this move is just another push... may be thats what the UK government wants... get the Brits out?????

Yipes ! Where have I been ? Will Americans tolerate this ? I wonder. Most countries have something of this sort and when you see all the old movies, Nazi Germany Gestapo guys were always asking for everybody's ''papers'' on the train and at check points, and stopping people on the street to ask for the ''papers''. Every dictatorship has always tried to control the population and categorize them and intimidate them, so maybe I'm not surprised to hear about such a thing here too. Oh, yes, I AM TOTALLY AGAINST IT. This to me is just more of Big Brother is Watching YOU ! What the crap is next then ? I agree with whatever it takes for the security of our nation but carrying an IC is Not one of them. Illegal immigration can be controlled by different means if the officials really want to control it. So can the traffic of drugs and everything else, but that means is not by forcing everybody to carry a card. How serious could this become ? What about the kid who leaves it in his pants and it goes to the washing machine ? Then he can't go to school without purchasing a new one ? Our kids have mandatory school Id Cards now that they have to wear and it has been one long distraction, cost s for replacement and problems. Some of the kids walk in the halls and grab the neck lanyards off other kids, then sell the cards to outsiders who then can come into the school without any problem, and the security guards don't pay any attention. The fact that we have to have security guards alone is enough to tell a whopping story about our public schools and the trouble we are in already. This just reminds me of Nazi Germany all over again. THIS will ultimately become our worst nightmare and put us under government control like you never imagined. We will cease to be who we are. AGAINST A NATIONAL ID CARD !!!!

The ID cards are the culmination of tony blairs big brother experience.
Our rights and freedoms have been eroded stealthily to near zero. The truth is we arent even aware of every dark act of parliament passed.Only when we inevitably feel the need to protest against the government will it dawn how little we matter. The hungarian communist dictator ,rakosi , described it as the "slicing of the salami".Taking away our freedoms, piecemeal so as not to cause a reaction.
Well , the wise among us will have noticed the knee-jerk response to every incident ,serious or trivial. Its quite obvious that the reactions were in place already, just waiting for the incidents to come along.
ie.terrorist attack...ID cards ..90 day terror bill.
Yes, initially the ID cards will be optional...wont they?
Well, of course, aware that the id cards will be ultimately compulsory, all govt offices, banks ,dvla, post offices etc, will have to update systems in preparation,Therefore, life will be virtually impossible without one and so the vast majority of ppl will go out and buy a card "voluntarily" and of course the govt will cal it a great success.
Then if that isnt enough, we shall have per mile charging on roads using satellite tracking.Yes the govt will know where you are and when you were there.
Anyone who doesnt recognise the comparisons with orwells 1984 is a fool and walking blindly into blairs menacing personal utopia.

To be fair, if you really want to get information on someone these days how hard is it? How many people actively go about hiding there identities?
At the end of the day they are combining a group of documents and facts about you that are all ready on computers and accessible by people who could mistreat them anyway.
I sometimes have to carry up to 3 or 4 Official kinds of Documentation to prove who I am, I'm sure many others are in the same boat. Walking around trying to keep them all safe is a drama. I all ready carry a MOD id card everywhere I go and I have not misplaced it for years.
The government is going to release ID Cards. This is not a democracy, if it was... Would Britain be in such a state? Because everyone i speak to says it shouldn't be this way.

I do not agree (very strongly) with ID cards this is just another invasion of privacy at the whim of corrupt politicians.
It is another SCAM and every ones information will be for sale to anyone who pays.
It will be a "hakkers" paradise and the access codes broken before the system is in operation or an employee of the private operating company sells them..
Non of the low grade governments or corrupt politicians in them in the UK have the integrity to operate such a system.
Get these imbeciles out of government and let us get to Proportional Representation as soon as possible then they wont have the power to change law so easily.
Did anyone vote for this - was this in the New Labour manifesto?

Three square meals a day, excercise, training for a trade, roof over my head, cushey job in the prison library-or the kitchen, making new friends, playstation/xbox/computer use, then when you've done your time and are about to leave...the government will GIVE you an I.D card to take with you on your merry way-what bliss...its prison for me to be sure-see you there denis!

Give it a few years, then those of us with some computer experience can make a fortune clearing up the mess, like we did with the NHS and HMRC systems.

If prison is the only alternative for not complying, then I can do prison on my head. Three meals a day, plenty of gym, education, and if I work I can claim earnings credits; what a snip.
