Ok he won it.Congrats.This is probably the last time he could have won it and he has won it.Congrats Cannavaro.But why do SOME people trash Zizou???Cannavaro has only won it ONCE and Zizou has won it THRICE!!!And yet some Italian fans are insulting him.WHY????
Not winning one FIFA world player of the year wont be any difference to Zizou who has won it THRICE(the highest number of times to have won by any player till date;only Zizou and ronaldo have won it 3 times).

I'm not trashing Zidane, I have no reason to@ I think you have it the other way around the French are trashing Cannavaro saying that he doesn't deserve the award!

First off I would like to congratulate Cannavaro on winning the FIFA World Player of the Year award, not an easy task considering that he is a defender. Secondly, I don't think that people are necessarily trashing Zidane, as much as they are disappointed with the way he ended his career. I have been a fan of his throughout his career and I think he is better than the way he acted in the world cup final. As far as Zidane winning the FIFA World Player of the Year award three times, he was an extraordary talent that will be missed, but if you expect that from Cannavaro, don't because they barely give the award to defenders once much less a second time. It doesn't mean he is less talented, but their talent is different as their positions are different.

I agree with the football fan that no one deserved the award this year. I do have to question the selection process by FIFA , I really thought Steven Gerrard and Thierry Henry would have at least made it to the top three. It some how feels they have taken a 'political correctness' with their selection if u really think about it.
About the thrashing, that is from fans who don't understand that Zidane and Cannavaro are better than us because they play the game and can't accept we are part of the masses. Imagine an award for the #1 Zidane fan ???

People who are trashing Zidane don't know anything about soccer. He earned his spot in the soccer hall of fame long time ago when cannavaro had still not learned how to walk. He is a true soccer god and his great achievments will speak for him.

i think Zidane is a great football player maybe one of the best in the world.But do you remember the world cup's final?A true champion wouldn't have done that, but he would take his team to the victory.Italian fans hate Zidane because he had not fairplay.I don't remember Maradona Pelè or Platinì to do the same .I don't think we (Italian fans) feel like the best in the world but would only more respect. If another player had hit with his head another player would be disqualified for ever especially if was an Italian player.

Let them, and let them have their opinion. Some will truly believe it, others will only out of denial and ignorance of his ability and contribution to the game. It makes no difference to the millions of fans he has world wide that have been awed by him throughout his career. Remember everyone has the right to their opinion. It's what you believe that counts.

By trashing Zidane, they only reveal themselves to be the amateurs that they are. All they can talk about is the headbutt, cause that's just about all they know concerning Zidane.

I take it you know how they come to this conclusion. sounds very grand FIFA WORLD PLAYER OF THE YEAR. iN my opinion no one deserves it this year no one player was that outstanding in any club or national team to be honoured with such an accolade.The board responible for selection should have the option non of the above. name one match this season cannavaro played in that he changed the course of the match, entertained the crowd, wasn't carded,and is a life long memory that you would show to your grandchildren again and again.
