By the way, I am actually taking the pill and have been for a number of years. I have read many reports about cylest and how it can affect your sex drive... Just wondering if anyone else was taking the same one and if they had been affected.

Hi

I was on Cilest for a number of years, it affected my sex drive big time. Never felt like it at all. I also put on weight, which happens with all the pills I think. When I came of it, my sex drive got better but not as good as it was before taking the pill

I read an article just yesterday that said that the study that originally said that the contraceptive pill lowers sex drive was based on only 125 women who had already been identified as having libido issues. This article said that there isn't any further evidence that the pill lowers sex drive in most women, but the original study is often quoted and refered to.

I wanted to say yes at first, but I think in my case it had almost the opposite effect. I was very new to pills and sex at the time too. The pills make your body beleive it's carrying a baby, which in a way triggers the sudden increase in weight, and based on what I've heard from people that are pregnant, if a pill will make your body gain weight like one that was pregnant, maybe it will boost up your sex drive :D I know it's crazy reasoning but in my head it works...

I don't have any hard facts... but that is the pill that I was taking for a couple of years. I never thought it accected me until I stopped taking it. Now I have found that my sex drive is alot higher & I'm thinking about it alot more. But then again, that may have something to do with me not having a boyfriend any more so I have no chioce but to 'think' about it!
Also, if your thinking of taking it, be careful because you can gain weight.
X

It can lower your sex drive, yes, its true, but it doesn't mean it happens to all women. Its better to check it with your GP. He/she will give you the best answer to this question qnd others that you may have.

Not in my experience - the pill took away any tension about having unwanted pregnancies and allowed my partner to fully enjoy her new found sexual freedom
