I've always been fond of Diana Hacker's A Writer's Reference. It's a spiral bound book with tabs for easy reference. It also has a section on commonly misused words. It's available at amazon, but I bought mine at my college bookstore for a class.

"The Little, Brown Handbook," published by Scott, Foresman And Company. Available from most libraries and college bookstores.
