I've got mine done and i think it looks great. I didnt have problems or anything. Im not planning to take mine out so i wouldnt be able to tell u if it leaves a scar, my friend also got hers done but it ended up a mess. Every person is different so its goin to react differently with everyone. Just make sure u dont touch it after getting it done and keep it clean and you should be right.

good luck!!

I got my belly-button pierced when I was 18. I loved it... BUT listen to this...

I took it out when I was 21 and had it out for about a year when I got pregnant.

The scar stretched out to about 5 inches long and 1 inch thick!!!! Now that my stomach shrunk back down, the scar is only about 3 inches long and 1/2 inch thick... but still my bikini days are over!! I honestly think if I had to do it over again, I would have waited until I was done having babies, then i would do it!

My daughter is 18 and had it done when she was 13 or 14. It hurt, momentarily, but has been fine since. Occasionally goes a bit smelly, and has to be cleaned with TCP. If she doesnt wear a belly bar, she has a small hole just above her belly button. I don't think it is unslightly. It's just like a hole in your ear lobe if you dont have earrings in. But don't have it done if you are unsure. Draw a little ball in pencil just above your belly button - thats what it will be like if you dont have a bar in. I think they are pretty, and if i were younger and had a flat stomach i would have had mine done too. Don't have it done if you have a bulging stomach cos its not a good look in those cases. There is always a risk of infection with any piercing, so take care where you have it done, and follow the cleaning instructions.

i got mine pierced years ago - it hurt a little getting it done but seemed to heal quickly. very prone to infection though cos of the location and the fact that it's not open to the air all the time. the initial piercing heals quickly but it takes a long time for the bellybutton to heal all the way into the centre of the piercing tunnel. i love mine and it's great now, but it is prone to infection for a long time after getting it done and you cannot wear any clothing that is tight over the area or rubs the ring too much. (i still can't! 5 or 6 years later!)i still love it and i'd never take it out! by the way - you won't have a big scar if you take it out, only a tiny dot that no one will notice.

Don't do it!! I had my belly button pierced about 6 years ago, it was fine really but about 3/4 years ago i decided i didn't like it and took it out. it hasn't left a really big scar but a scar all the same & i hate it. wish i had never got it done.

You have to clean it religiously and follow all the instructions that your piercer gives you. If you do that, you shouldn't have any problems. I had my belly button pierced on the top and the bottom ... I took them both out when I got pregnant and have small scars but nothing terribly noticeable.

i had mine done when i was 14 i am now 23 and i haven't had any problems. The best advice i can give it DO NOT TOUCH IT! Leave the piecering alone whether it a ring or a bar for at least 3 months and then you can change it. If you start fiddling with it and changing the bar all the time when you first have it done it can make it go septic. I left mine for 6 months and did not have any probs, my friends played with theirs and changed them straight away and theirs went all septic and scaby!! not nice!! Good luck.

i had mine done at the bottom instead of the top and from time to time it goes a bit gooey which is disgusting, but its onli a bit, as long as you clean it regulary and use a alcohol based cleaner it will stay fine, a little scar stays its just like wen you take your earings out but you still have a lump and can feel the line under your skin were it was put through

My wife had hers done and did not realise that the aromatherapy baths where making it all gungy... Soon as she stopped those it healed pretty quick - she said it did not hurt that much either.

If she takes it out there is just a small hole about her BButton nothing too un-sightly.

Remember thot hat if your on a diet losing weight lose it FIRST otherwise the hole will stretch and shrink with your weight and you could end up with a slack or mishappen piercing.

cheers

This has got nothing to do with the look of it (I quite like it(, but I wanted to pass on the story of the girl who got trapped on a trampoline by her belly button piercing. Ouch!
She had to be cut free and taken to hospital. So please, think twice if you do anything sporty like that!
