Firsthand experience, I DID NOT LIKE MY STEPMOM because my dad spent all his money on her can couldn't even buy me any clothes, even at the beginning of a new school year. We lived in Cali at the time and in an area where everyone seemed really well off....except for me...goodwill, thrift store...and my stepmom in gold and diamonds....so no, i did not like her and I also felt that she was taking my place because it was just me and my dad and i was the one that kept the house...i felt as if she was intruding on my territory....but i think all kids go through that stage...especially when they hang on to the hope that both their parents will get back together one day like i did...Some kids do go to their other parents and "tell" on them, but from what I have seen, it is because the other parent asks them questions about any new person in their exes life. NEVER put kids in the middle!!! Don't worry about it, but make sure your man spends some one on one time with his son especially since he only gets him on the weekends. don't talk bad about his mother, and just be yourself. don't be too nice because kids can tell. hopefully, his son won't be as stubborn as i was...It took over 10 years before I could accept my stepmom and realize that she is the best thing that has happened to my father other than me and his 2 granddaughters. :) But even now she annoys me every now and then...hehehe good luck!!!

It's possible the boy will talk to his Mom about you, just make sure you are friendly to him and set a good example, this will prevent him from relaying any negative feedback to his Mom, as she will probably be curious and/or jealous of you.
Sometimes divorced parents talk lowly of each other in front of their child in order to compete for their love and support.
Just be kind and he'll have no reason not to like daddy's new lady friend.
Good luck.

More times than not, kids want to reject their parents signifcant others that they are dating because they feel the person is being replaced or it is out of the norm for them or they fear losing time with their parent. Every circumstance is different and many kids end up like their step parents.
