i have been told to draw a line of best fit of some given data and have beenn asked to find out the rate of change of data..
what does this mean??

it is something to do with differentiation and integration.

whenever there is possibility to draw the line then it is a linear regression in such prob rate of change of data is dy/dx which is nothing but the slope of line
take any 2 pts on line (x1,y1) and (x2,y2)
then find (y2-y1)/(x2-x1)
which will be the slope of line and your answer

The problem appears to be a linear regression. The rate of change of data asked for will be the slope of the line arrived at by the regression.

After drawing the line of best fit for your data, this is the most accurate and approximate slope, and this is also the rate of change therefore you have to find out the slope of the line of best fit which is also the rate of change of the data. To get the slope get the ymax and ymin coordinates of your data with the associated x-coordinates on your data (x1,ymax) and min coordinates of your data (x2,ymin),and slope is equal to m=ymax-ymin/x1-x2

The rate of change is the derivative of your equation:
dx/dy -> change in x over the change in y
