HI
IAM LEARNING DANCE FOR NEARLY 12 YEARS.IN THESE 12 YEARS I HAVE MET MORE NUMBER OF MALE DANCERS THAN FEMALE. IN FACT THE PERSON WHO TEACHES ME DANCE IS A GUY.EVEN I ASKED THE SAME QUESTION TO MY TEACHER . HE SAID THAT;
GIRLS HAVE MORE GRACE THAN BOYS. A GIRL'S DANCE HAS A LOT OF GRACE,EXPRESSIONS & FEELINGS.
WHEREAS IN A BOY'S DANCE THERE WOULD BE LESS GRACE AND FEELINGS ARE EXPRESSED LESS THAN THAT OF GIRLS.
BUT WE CAN'T SAY THAT BOYS ARE NOT LEARNING DANCE OR NOT DANCING.THEY JUST DON'T SHOW IT OUT THINKING OR ASSUMING THAT DANCE IN ONLY MEANT FOR GIRLS.

I think you are a little biased about little girls and boys. I've seen boys enjoy dancing just as often as I've seen little girls. I'm talking ages 3-5. They enjoy skipping and stopming all the same. Later in their lives, girls are taught that they should look beatiful, it's encouraged for them to be in touch with their inner sences. Boys are not encouraged in the same way. However, how often did you notice that a guy who is in love will "secretly" "dance" in an empty hallway, as he just walks alone, ready to hug the whole world? I think men don't do it in general and in public because they are discouraged from doing so. After being discouraged enough and not try it for some time, it is not physically comfortable or natural to do. This is why they don't do it.
Dancing is my serious hobby and passion. I enjoy dancing because this is how I come in touch with inner sences, how I embrace feeling beautiful and how I allow myself look the most attractive. I must add that I was not encouraged to dance when I was little. I had to learn it all anew and I don't regret even slightly that I had to learn it, it wasn't as "natural".
I hang out with ballroom people - guys and girls. Please don't start yelling just yet that all of those guys are gay. They are not. They have girlfriends and wives. However, the behavoir that I see in them as far as spontaneous dancing goes is just completely different. They know how to move, they are comfortable with it and they are not any worse than girls. Yeah, well, they know better - they have to hide it unless they are in group of dancers.

actually there's this lady who's friends with my mom, and she plays the piano and therefore likes to show off so she kinda sings or dances a step or two, out of the clear blue when she is hanging with her friends. Other than that, I haven't witnessed any women having really a penchant towards dancing, not as you describe it in your question. Often times a girl might ask her boyfriend to take her dancing, but that's more or less a way of saying that she wishes to be romanced, she could use the terms go the movies, or for dinner or whatever.

I don't know where it really comes from - But I've got the dancing in me - There is a rhythm in me that I just can't help !! And I love it -Dancing to me is a way of expressing yourself - boy or girl -- !!I'm not sure, if this is what you were meaning -- And for me I just love teaching - Dance - I feel peaceful - while I dance !! And when you find your beat - it will never leave you ---- Merry Christmas to you - and Happy New Year --- Pattijo

Dancing is beautiful, most girls at a young age see these movies and clips of beautiful graceful dancers and they want to become exactly like them. Also, dancing is fun moving to the rythm of a song is so awesome, it's a fun thing to do. When I dance, I feel like I'm in another world, another place, I become a person that expresses myself through movement instead of words.

It's cultural. In many countries, boy are taught dancing very young. Because they see adult males dance as well, they imitate. In Western cultures, men do not often dance: it's seen as a girly thing. Therefore, they are not really encouraged ("I want to do like daddy" syndrome). Have you noticed that young boys often dance? But when they are a bit older, because it's not a "manly" thing to do, they stop for fear of being ridiculed.
Lok at hip-hop and Rn'B: guys who listen to that type of music tend to dance. It's not seen as girly.
It's just cultural.

Actually it is a society/culture thing.
Another sad commentary on America's repressed culture.
In other countries boys and men dance their hearts and souls out! Greeks-think Zorba. In Bali all boys learn dance. In many other places-too many to list. Dancing is soulful! It frees the spirit.

It's an expressive movement, an expression of the soul. It's also the best way we can express what we are feeling at the moment....for the little girls, it's easier for them to be expressive through movement than to try and find the words when they don't have enough of a vocabulary.

I guess it is something of mystery, but it might be that it is in our blood. Were girls in history up to the 1900's allowed to do much but cook, sew, clean, study, and DANCE? No. I take ballet and ballroom dancing, and I do love it.

Have you watch 'Billi Elliot' movie? I think guys just as same feel the music, but the stereotype is that it is just a girls thing. The only difference is that girls earlier start to develope this talent since it is 'normal' for girls to dance.
