Yes, at the very least. It is even more courteous, and fair to discuss it with you even before inviting other people into your shared home. you have a right to know who is likely to be brought into your home, even if the guests are not going to be directly in the room that is personally yours,...it is very likely that there are other parts of the home that you may have the right to say what goes on, as much as your live-in friend has. Good communication is the most important key to keeping peace in any relationship.
Hopefully your friend will not be offended by the expectation to openly communicate any social plans for your shared home. Your privacy and feelings are just as important as your friends need for socialization.

Well they should let you know, but sometimes people just show up, what are you going to do tell them to leave because you didn't tell your roomate they would be there? And sometimes people make plans at the last minute since they live there they shouldn't have to get permission to have someone at their home but yes it is courtious to inform your roomate so they can plan accordingly.

I would think so. I am assuming you are speaking of a roommate, not a live-in boyfriend. It is always a good idea to keep people who are sharing your quarters informed about things you are doing that might have some effect on them.

I don't necessarily think so, although I suppose if they have someone overnight they ought to mention it or leave you a note.

If you share a residence with someone you kind of have to know there's the chance they'll bring in a guest - and act and dress accordingly.

UMMMM yeah! I would like to know so I do not walk in on anything or come out not dressed properly. Especially if you share the bills....it is respectful I agree!

Most definitely they need to tell the other person ahead of time. What if you were walking around in your undies & thought you & your roomate were the only ones there.

Out of respect, they should. It's your home, too and like someone else said, I think you should know who is in your home.

Yeah, it is. You wouldn't want to walk in wearing things you wear when their not there.
