Simple, don't use it (you cant uninstall it) and use Mozilla Firefox instead. Link below, good luck!

Firefox is a great browser, I mostly use it. You should be aware though, that there are websites that either look wonky or just don't work at all in browsers other than IE. So keep your IE near by, just in case.

I found that when I went into a different site, I was asked if I wanted to make this my default site and all I had to do was click "Yes" , for a time I had Nine MSN and then I switched to Yahoo the same way.

You may be confusing web browser with service provider.
IE is an internet browser. ISP is....who you pay to reach the net, either could provide your home page, so you will need to visit:
Start, (settings) control panel, Internet Options....etc.
