Good subtle question.

My answer is neither.... we are the ones doing the thinking.

Thank you for a subtle question. For one thing, I do not think we have a definite idea of what we think we are. Try asking anyone and you will see what jambo comes out when it comes to describing what/who do they think they are. They go at first, 'yeah, I am so and so, I do this and that..' , yet challenge them even slightly and they start all mumbling trying to explain what they mean, heretofore unsure of themselves. I tend to believe that we are more the thoughts we are having, in a streamlike, uncontrolled, in essence, fashion.. plus the accepted limitation, often times rather uncosciously, of what we can and cannot do/be/have

If we are what we think we are then we are the thoughts we have.

Neither
Our thoughts are just thoughts-not who we are.

That's the same.
We are alive only in our thoughts (understanding) of living.
No thoughts - no life.
We understand everything through the prism of our understanding.
