Yes, in all seriousness, there is an interesting trend in that direction if you examine it. The flow of information is also speeding up, which probably contributed to the cynicism since we can't believe every piece of information we run across. The Internet has been a great distributor of useless information, and a great distributor of highly critical viewpoints.
