if i want to design a spacecraft, i normally use a piece of paper and a pencil.of course if you're good with a computer, that works as well.
well...... just kidding.
if i had a choice i would use a plane to fly my to the edge of space and take off from there, then i could various types of plastics for parts not subjected to heat and metals for those that will.
sorry i'm no rocket scientist.
