Yes there are alot of well kept secrets and big ones at that by world leaders.

The official word is that they were testing an experimental balloon system or something. I believe that they made up the flying saucer story to cover up the truth but much to their surprise, the flying saucer story generated more news than the truth would have.
When they finally came clean, everyone was so convinced that a flying saucer with aliens had crashed, there was no way to convince people what was really true.

I sure do, in my travels met a lady, and her grand daddy owned a pecan orchard near Roswell. One day they heard a light crash they went out to see and there was like in the pictures a flying saucer. Her granddad told her to wait until he called the police, she like any other little 10 or 12 year old girl walked up to it and touched it she said it felt like velvet, then she looked inside there were only metal like boxes no space men latter in life she figured out the boxes were computers.

not sure about the cup and saucer or the little green munchkin, but i feel we are too tiny in such a small universe to be alone, there has to be some sort of life form out there, we're really only scratching the surface at the moment, so i'm sure there has to be something out there.

It makes as much sense as believing in most religions.At least they don't ask for money or ring your doorbell at inconvenient times.
